ZRC China News Network Family 300 Military

To pay tribute to the sometimes anonymous heroes of World War II, to salute the courage and bravery of women and men, the Geneva-based brand dresses its icons with the US Army military code.

In 1964, the Grands Fonds 300, designed by ZRC, a brand founded in 1904, stood out as the official watch of the French National Navy. Its timeless silhouette, set off by a crown at 6 o’clock, perfectly recognizable among the various contemporary diving models on the market, was the ideal playground for the extraordinary creativity of Georges Brunet, the young CEO of ZRC, as shown by the Grands Fonds 300 Militaria, which is inspired by US Army military equipment, in particular the famous Willys Jeep, which it displays on its dial.

To decorate the face of this new piece, the Geneva-based company used exactly the same Pantone shade as that of the US Army, a wonderful khaki green with a grainy finish on top. For the typography of the Arabic numerals and indexes, ZRC borrowed from the traditional Stencil USA font, which is created using a stencil design and is usually painted white so it can be seen by reconnaissance aircraft flying high in the sky. In the center of this military-inspired dial, two universal hands and dot-tipped direct drives, all three silver-plated and coated with white Super-LumiNova®, indicate the hours, minutes and seconds.

These functions are driven by the automatic ETA 2428-2 movement, which offers a 38-hour power reserve and is housed in a 40.5mm-diameter steel case. The case is topped with a unidirectional rotating bezel, which, as always, boasts the ECS ticker flush system, and is clasped by a strap made of EPDM – a naturally soft rubber – in khaki, of course.
