Rolex GMT-Master II with green hands will return in 2022 with five-bead strap

It is not yet the “Watches & Wonders” exhibition in April, but recently there has been a suspected leak of new watch information, and it is Rolex, and it is the GMT-Master II series, and it is the discontinued green-hand GMT! Whether the green hand will return soon, take a look and analyze it now!

3 years ago, the green hand in front of you was officially removed from the Rolex official website. In fact, this green hand Ref.116710LN is also a classic. It has been in service from 2007 to 2019, and the production period is 12 years, which is not short. The second-hand price of the green hand after discontinuation has also increased a lot. The current market price is about 100,000 to 110,000 yuan. Maybe because the green hand GMT does not have a two-color ceramic bezel, it is indeed not as popular as the popular “Pepsi Bezel” and “Batman” blue and black bezel, but as a “relatively easy” Rolex sports watch, there are still many fans of the green hand.

Recently, a photo suspected to be from the Rolex catalogue was leaked, showing 6 GMT models, including the “Sarsa Bezel”, “Pepsi Bezel” and “Batman”, and the one in the middle of the first row is the rumored return of the green-hand GMT.

This “suspected” model Ref.126710LN green-hand GMT appears in a new look. The key design change is the change from a three-grid plate to a five-bead band. There is a crown mark at the 6 o’clock position on the dial. It can be inferred that the watch has also been replaced with a new 3-day movement, just like other GMT peers; and the words “GMT-MASTER II” on the dial are presented in green like the previous generation.

The popularity of Rolex in the past six months is obvious to all. Among them, the GMT-Master II series is also sought after by many Rolex fans, and is led by the steel case “Pepsi Bezel”. The market price has risen to around 230,000. There is also the “Sass Circle” whose popularity has risen sharply. Originally, the gold steel case with brown and black two-tone ceramic bezel was not popular, but it has suddenly become popular in the past two months, from around 160,000 to 230,000 now, which is quite an amazing increase!

As for whether Rolex will really return to the green needle GMT this year, it is really difficult to predict. You must know that all the current GMT watches have two-tone ceramic bezels. Does Rolex want the GMT series to have a more unified design, or provide users with a more low-key all-black GMT ceramic bezel?

And that photo does not look like Rolex’s official product catalog. First, it is too early for the watch exhibition in April, and second, from the product caption, if you look closely, you will find that “Pepsi” is used to describe Ref.126710BLRO, and “Batman” is used to describe Ref.126710BLNR. This is an important message. I have the impression that Rolex officials will not use this “nickname” to describe their own GMT watches. So the photo is very likely not an official catalogue, and Rolex has always been very secretive. Even so, it does not mean that the five-bead green needle will not return this year. So as a user, do you want the green needle to return? I believe this GMT should be easier to get.
