Patek Philippe 5711 releases the first Tiffany Blue dial and is about to be auctioned

Who can surpass the Nautilus 5711? The answer is another Nautilus 5711. Patek Philippe released the latest model of the super popular Nautilus 5711 last night: Ref. 5711/1A-018 “Tiffany & Co.”, a powerful combination of 5711 + stainless steel + Tiffany blue dial, which is only sold in TIFFANY stores in New York, Beverly Hills and San Francisco. Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern said: Deciding who to assign the watch to will be “a big problem.”

Just yesterday evening, November 6, The New York Times reported on the latest model of the super popular model Nautilus 5711 released by Patek Philippe: Ref. 5711/1A-018 “Tiffany & Co.”, limited to 170 pieces, as a huge gift to commemorate the 170-year partnership between Patek Philippe and Tiffany since 1851. The watch features a lacquered dial in Tiffany’s most famous patented brand color, “Tiffany Blue”—this is also Patek Philippe’s first “Tiffany Blue” dial. The PATEK PHILIPPE at 12 o’clock and the TIFFANY & Co. at 6 o’clock are both printed in black fonts. The “Tiffany Blue” lacquered dial also has a hint of the texture of Tiffany’s classic paper box.

The 2021 on the bottom cover also hides an Easter egg. The watch is equipped with a 26-330 SC automatic winding movement. In addition to the words 170th ANNIVERSARY, 1851-2021, TIFFANY & Co. – PATEK PHILIPPE, etc., the bottom cover also has LVMH printed on the number “1” of 2021 as a hidden Easter egg to congratulate TIFFANY & Co. on joining the LVMH Group. According to Thierry Stern in the report, “I’m very curious to see how long it’s going to take people to discover that there is a secret on every piece,” the so-called hidden ingenuity of 5711/1A-018 should refer to this, or there may be other details that we don’t know (but perhaps only the owner of the watch will know).

5711/1A-018 will be auctioned at Phillips New York from December 11 to 12. The auction number is very face-saving and is marked as “1T”. There is currently no reserve price. This will be the first 5711/1A-018 to be sold, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Nature Conservancy in the United States.

As for this 5711 5711/1A-018, how much is it likely to be sold for? Let’s compare it with another 5711/1A, which was sold at Antiquorum in July this year. The green-faced 5711/1A-014 was sold for EUR 416,000 including commission, which is about NT$12.5 million and HK$3.5 million, about 13 times the list price. The watch is currently priced at USD 52,635 (approximately NT$1.5 million, HK$400,000). Given that Patek Philippe’s TIFFANY & Co. double-logo models have always been priced high at auctions, and this piece has all the unique elements that make it so expensive, I believe that not only watch collectors, but also wealthy ladies who love fashion products must be ready to buy it.
