Omega Seamaster surpasses Rolex’s Ghost in waterproof performance

Remember that in 2019, American explorer Victor Vescovo drove the submersible “Limiting Factor” to the bottom of the Mariana Trench at 10,928 meters underwater, setting a new world record. At that time, Omega specially created a Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional diving watch for this underwater exploration plan. The watch can withstand the pressure of 15,000 meters deep sea. In the end, it also accompanied Victor Vescovo to set a record and return successfully (the watch was fixed outside the diving chamber and returned to the surface safely after 12 hours of deep diving), becoming the new ghost king with the highest waterproof performance under Omega.

After some improvements in 2022, Omega launched a new commercial version of Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional-Planet Ocean Ultra Deep watch, providing the new watch with a waterproof performance of up to 6,000 meters, which is superior to all waterproof watches on the market, even Rolex Deepsea can’t reach it.

This Planet Ocean Ultra Deep continues the design of the previous record-breaking watch. The watch has a diameter of 45.5mm and a thickness of 18.12mm. As for the case, there are two styles, the brand’s unique O-MEGASTEEL and titanium. The difference between O-MEGASTEEL and ordinary stainless steel is that it is harder, whiter, and more corrosion-resistant. It is matched with ceramic bezels in different colors such as black, blue and orange to create a strong and resolute watch appearance.

The watch models are made of different materials and colors of cases and ceramic bezels, and the dials are also available in white lacquered ceramic or blue gradient and gray gradient. In addition, the watch may be matched with O-MEGASTEEL chain strap, rubber strap or NATO strap. Omega has launched seven new Planet Ocean Ultra Deep watches at once, allowing watch fans who pursue extreme waterproof performance to find the most suitable watch for themselves among many “Seahorse Kings”.

In order to enhance its waterproof performance, this watch uses an opaque metal caseback, on which the classic seahorse pattern of this series is engraved, and the sonar loop pattern from the back of the record-breaking watch is added, paying tribute to the world record of human diving to the bottom of the sea. The movement under the solid caseback of the watch is the 8912 movement, which is the same as the Seamaster 300 launched in 2021. The movement has a power reserve of 60 hours, and its anti-magnetic performance is higher than 15,000 Gauss through the Master Chronometer certification. Now, with the thick case protection, the waterproof performance is greatly improved, and the watch’s powerful sports performance has reached the peak of the same level of watches, both inside and outside.
