It’s finally happening. The brand has a new watch that’s probably the most fervent fan and fan favorite. Enter the new Tudor Black-Bay 58 Navy. This is Tudor’s first release of 2020, thanks to plans being derailed by Covid-19, and we’re told it will be their last.
In short, Tudor has added a fresh navy blue color scheme to its extremely popular vintage-style Black-Bay 58. It’s not revolutionary. However, the brand has clearly listened to its fans, and it’s a welcome move that we hope other brands take note of.
In addition to the matte navy blue dial and matching blue aluminum bezel, Tudor has also switched from gold to silver for the standard BB58 to enhance the modern feel. On top of that, the antique bronze lume on the hour markers and bezel has been replaced with fresh white Super-LumiNova, adding to the overall refreshing appeal.
Other than these differences, the technical specifications remain the same. It measures 39mm in diameter and is a touch under 12mm, with contrasting brushed and polished surfaces, a rose-decorated screw-down crown for durability. Beating inside will be the MT5402, which is thinner than the one used in other Black Bays, COSC-certified, with a silicon balance spring and a 70-hour power reserve.
The “Smurfette” will be available with three strap options, the standard riveted Oyster bracelet (still no quick-adjust, sadly), the new blue soft-touch strap, or grey fabric.
The watch will be available from authorized dealers from today (July 1st), although its production is not limited, as we saw from the release of the BB58 in 2018, they will likely fly off the shelves.
