The mechanism invented by Louis Cottier in the 1930s takes on green in a new, colorful and aesthetically pleasing model scene launched by the Manufacture in 2016.
Patek Philippe invites us to discover a series of prestigious complications nestled in its latest model, the 5930P-001. A chronograph equipped with a flyback function and world time, which simultaneously displays the time in 24 time zones, paired with an elegant 39.5 mm platinum case. This coexistence is centered on the dial, which has been carefully designed to provide optimal readability. The central decoration in green tones sets off the circular guilloché engraving, fringed by a two-color 24-hour disc to distinguish between day and night. The complex is embraced by a space dedicated to the city. In addition to the dauphine-style local hour and standard minute hands, the time data are supplemented by a direct drive and a 30-minute counter at 6 o’clock, dedicated to measuring short cycle times.
All this data is driven by the CH 28-520 HU movement. The complications of this sophisticated automatic movement (power reserve of approximately 55 hours) are very easy to use. The pusher at 10 o’clock allows the wearer to select the reference time zone, which will be located at 12 o’clock. The pusher at 2 o’clock triggers the chronograph. A simple touch of the clock at 4 o’clock instantly restarts a new time measurement session.
And, like all of the manufacturer’s timepieces, this 5930P-001 World Time Flyback Chronograph comes with a comfortable strap. This time, it is made of square alligator leather and flaunts a bottle green color that perfectly matches the central scene of the watch.
