Mido Commander Blue shade, blue face on black outline

The ambassador of the Locle watchmaking brand adopts a silhouette decorated entirely in black to better highlight the hazy blue of its face.

As early as 1959, Mido, the watchmaking brand founded in Locle, created its future icon – the Commander watch. A model that has been in continuous production for the past 61 years. Its understated monocoque case, its reliable movement and its always easy-to-read dial display, as well as its rather realistic price, made this piece a bestseller and a perfect ambassador for Mido, which, with the arrival of spring, unveils a new variation: the Commander blue shade.

So, what is so special about this new piece? The case with a diameter of 37 mm is sculpted from satin-finished steel and coated with black PVD. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters and features a closed caseback made of the same metal. This dim case houses the ETA-based automatic caliber 80, which beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and, as the name suggests, offers a power reserve of 80 hours.

On the dial, an acrylic crystal disc with the Mido name discreetly printed in the middle protects the dial. The mysterious sunlit face in Commander Blue shade is enhanced with a smoke-like effect that darkens in gradient tones from petrol blue to navy and black. The 12 silver hour markers, with Super-LumiNova® dots along the top of the flange and a central black band, are a unique graphic touch, and the central hour and minute hands are also decorated with luminous stripes. The double opening window at 3 o’clock displays the day (in English) and date in black on a white background.

The Commander Blue strap is paired with a Milanese steel mesh bracelet and a black PVD case.
