Zenith Zenith DEFY 21 Carl Cox Edition, Remix and Remix

The high-frequency chronograph launched by the Locle manufacturer is the epitome of a luminous limited series dedicated to one of the iconic stars of the British electronic scene.

Last night a DJ saved my life… Back in the eighties, Carl Cox was one of these DJs. Carl, an apostle of hardcore sound and rave parties, later became an electronic legend, rising to fame mixing behind four or five turntables during unforgettable underground nights. This year, the DJ joined Zenith’s much-loved Friends of the Brand club. For the centerpiece of this event, the manufacturer launched its Defy 21 Carl Cox Edition in honor of this master of mixing. Made with a carbon fiber bezel and cordura-effect black leather, the watch is coated with a luminous substance on the strap, which shines brightly under the club lights.

On the A side, the skeletonized dial dances to the beat of the El Primero 9004 movement. Short cycle times are measured to 1/100th of a thousandth of a second. They are displayed via two totalizers, one for 30 minutes at 3 o’clock and the other for 60 seconds placed at 6 o’clock, with the central direct drive rotating once a second. At 9 o’clock, the small seconds hand is depicted as a vinyl record, a tribute to the artist. The power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock displays the available energy (50 hours of power reserve). As with other Defy 21s, the hour and minute hands hover on a scale, with a minute tracker displayed on the flange. The black carbon black crystal caseback on the B side reveals the components of the automatic movement.

Blending high-frequency watchmaking and ultra-fast beats, the Defy 21 Carl Cox Edition is released in a series of 200 pieces.
