As the Rare Handcrafts exhibition at the Patek Philippe Geneva Salon was launched, the watch king also released several craft timepieces. The most complex and exciting one among them is the 6002R-001 Sky Moon Tourbillon Haut Artisanat, which was once the most complicated model of Patek Philippe. It combines the church bell minute repeater, perpetual calendar function, tourbillon device and the starry sky map on the back of the watch, and then applies grand feu enamel and hand-carved gold. Such a top-level model is naturally priced at a sky-high price, but there are only a handful of brands that are capable of making multiple complex function watches. In addition, the extremely limited production is equivalent to super limited, and the appearance is eye-catching. It is definitely a very attractive style for powerful collectors.
Patek Philippe launched the Sun and Moon Tourbillon watch No. 5002 in 2001. It is the second most complex watch of the brand and is highly sought after by collectors and top complex function timepiece enthusiasts. This double-faced watch was launched in a rare handcrafted version from 2013 to 2016, combining a white gold case and a blue enamel dial (No. 6002G-001); from 2016, a new version with a black enamel dial (No. 6002G-010) was launched. Now, the brand has given this classic timepiece a new look, combining the warm glow of rose gold with brown Grand Feu enamel decoration to launch the latest version. The periphery of the dial, the moon phase display window and the moon on the display plate are made of the ancient Grand Feu inlaid enamel method; the center of the dial is decorated with a pattern outlined by fine gold lines using the Grand Feu cloisonné enamel technique.
The case, crown, spring slide, hour and minute hands and folding buckle are all decorated with spiral and vine patterns by the master engraver, which took more than 100 hours to carve, and the pattern is quite three-dimensional. The vine pattern also has an extremely delicate pear ground pattern in the background, adding to the overall luxury.
This Sun-Moon Tourbillon watch combines twelve complex functions, including a tourbillon and a “church bell” gong minute repeater. The front surface is equipped with a self-returning date display perpetual calendar, as well as moon phases and leap year cycle displays.
The star map displayed on the back of the watch is also a very popular functional display among collectors, which faithfully shows the dynamics of the moon and stars in the northern hemisphere. In order to depict the beauty of the movement of the stars, Patek Philippe has developed a display system consisting of three overlapping sapphire crystal disks, each of which rotates at a precisely calculated rate ratio to achieve such a beautiful scene.
The new Sun-Moon Tourbillon watch No. 6002R-001 is paired with an elegant chestnut brown crocodile leather strap, which is fixed by a hand-carved rose gold folding buckle. A pair of rose gold cuff buttons are also hand-carved.
