Following the launch of the limited edition Ref. 6007A-001 on June 18th for the inauguration of the new watch factory, the watch king Patek Philippe will release a new model in July. Compared with the commemorative model released in June in response to a special event, this time it is a real new watch for 2020. The three models released this time are all large complex functions that top collectors will pay attention to, including minute repeater, split-second chronograph, and perpetual calendar chronograph. By adjusting the color scheme and dial material, it presents a gorgeous and exquisite Patek Philippe.
Ref. 5303R-001 Minute Repeater Tourbillon
The first regular version of the Openworked dial minute repeater watch
This is the first Patek Philippe minute repeater model that clearly displays the minute repeater hammer and gong on the dial. Considering that the 2019 Singapore Watch Art Grand Exhibition special edition 5303R-010 also has a similar design, which was a limited edition of 12 pieces at the time, this is the first non-limited regular edition. Not only does it give collectors who are interested in collecting this model a chance to buy it, but on the other hand, through the special design of the Openworked Dial, collectors who love Patek Philippe minute repeaters have another choice.
The open dial shows the minute repeater hammer and gong at 10 o’clock, and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, equipped with the R TO 27 PS manual winding movement. The rose gold-plated movement base is polished with Geneva waves, and the complex and precise minute repeater structure forms a noble and gorgeous visual. Compared with the 2019 Singapore special edition, the watch design used the local favorite red elements, while the new 5303R-001 is replaced by black, and the scale ring on the outer edge of the surface is decorated with rose gold dot scales.
The 42mm case is made of rose gold, and the side and lugs are decorated with white gold carved leaf inlays. The white gold minute repeater slide and the white gold hollow ring frame on the outer edge of the back movement also have the same leaf inlay elements.
Ref. 5370P-011 Split-second Chronograph
Blue Grand Feu Enamel
5370 is Patek Philippe’s first split-second chronograph model using the self-made movement CHR 29-535 PS. The previous model was a platinum black enamel face in 2015. This time it is a blue Grand Feu enamel face. The overall look is still calm, and it is another choice for collectors who love dark faces; the surface is made of slender leaf-shaped luminous coated hands and white gold Breguet-style numbers, with white tachymeter scales printed on it.
The case lines are quite rich, mainly with bright polishing, including a concave bright bezel, the grooves on the side of the watch are brushed, and there is a large decorative round nail on the side of the lugs. These more varied contours are all designs that make the production and polishing more labor-intensive, but the shape is more three-dimensional.
Ref. 5270J-001 Chronograph Perpetual Calendar
The first model in gold
The 5270 equipped with Patek Philippe’s first self-made CH 29-535 PS Q chronograph perpetual calendar movement, after white gold, rose gold and platinum, now launches the first model in gold 5270J-001. Through design details such as concave bezel and double lugs, a more modern case shape is created. The surface is a classic three-eye dial with double windows for the day and month at 12 o’clock, a pointer-type date and moon phase display at 6 o’clock, and circular display windows for day and night and leap year at 4 and 7 o’clock respectively. The silver-toned milky white surface is matched with gold baton-style scales and leaf-shaped hands, with a tachymeter scale.
In 2011 and 2015, Patek Philippe launched the white gold model with a silver-white dial (discontinued) and the rose gold model with an opaline dial (discontinued), respectively, followed by the rose gold chain with a black dial and the platinum salmon dial in 2018. The 5270J-001 is the first gold model of the 5270.
