Richard Miller RM 032 St. Barth Street – Patek Philippe Monobloc Chronograph 5470P-001

The Caribbean Sea hosts a regatta that is one of the most enjoyable yachting events in the world. The stunning performances on the waves are just as amazing on the dock as this impressive sports watch taking center stage.

After a pandemic-related break, the wind blew over the sails of the participants again during the 11 thousand Voiles de Saint-Barth Richard Mille. The watch brand has been actively involved in this event since its creation in 2010 and is presenting 120 limited edition watches for this occasion. A true diving instrument, the RM 032 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Les Voiles de Saint Barth boasts a 50 mm diameter titanium case, is water-resistant to 300 meters, and its two-tone unidirectional rotating bezel in azure and white quartz TPT® highlights the colors of the skies and seas of the Antilles.

And, although it complies with the ISO 6425 standard, this timepiece created by Richard Mille is more than just a diver. Its skeletonized dial shows off several hands, including hour and minute hands and a flyback chronograph. The red hand indicates the seconds, the yellow hand the minutes in which the chronograph is triggered. The counter at 6 o’clock adds up the time. The rotating power reserve indicator at 2 revolutions per minute lets the wearer know that the mechanism is working properly. These data are complemented by a large date at 12 o’clock and a moon window at 4:30, both with semi-instantaneous display functions. All data are driven with great precision by the RMAC2 movement. This automatic movement stands out thanks to its variable geometry rotor and double barrel, among other elements. Its architecture is designed to provide a coherent power reserve of approximately 50 hours.

The manufacturer presents its first bi-aperture chronograph, which is capable of measuring short cycle times to tenths of a second, thanks to a movement with numerous patents.

Twelve seconds. That’s how long it took for the direct drive made by Silinvar® to completely revolutionize the dial. However, the choice of this material is not without significance. Among other qualities, this silicon derivative is extremely light and anti-magnetic. What’s more, its design is centered around geometric shapes and has excellent aerodynamic properties. In the new Patek Philippe 1/10 Thousand Second Monobloc Chronograph 5470P-001, the movement of the 1/10 Thousand Seconds hand flows very smoothly when the pusher set at 2 o’clock is triggered. On the indigo dial, the measured time interval is read by another central hand, the seconds hand is read by another central hand and the 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock.

Moreover, the time data reading is optimal, just like all the manufacturer’s references. The hour chapter is enhanced by elegant Arabic numerals and a highly accurate minute tracker. The small seconds hand at 9 o’clock perfectly balances the minimalist scene landscape. The 41 mm diameter platinum case carries the CH 29-535 PS 1/10 movement. This manual-winding movement is an upgraded version of the movement launched in 2009. The system of the 1/10 Thousand adds a second chronograph function. Its frequency is also increased from 4 Hz to 5 Hz, that is, 36,000 vibrations per hour, ensuring precise time measurement. Seven patent applications were submitted to finalize it. The sapphire crystal case back with a traditional finish offers a fascinating view of the workings in action. The sporty look of this watch also highlights the elegance of the moving components.
