Speed, distance and pulse speed are all under control at once, Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope Retro Chronograph

Omega has recently launched the Speedmaster Chronoscope coaxial escapement 43mm Master Observatory Chronograph. “Chronoscope” combines two ancient Greek words, “Chronos” means “time” and “Scope” means observation. This tool is usually used to measure the duration between two points or events, and the watch does take the measurement function to the extreme, providing three timing functions at once: speed measurement, distance measurement, and pulse meter. Usually, a chronograph will only have one of the scales, while the Chronoscope has three at a time, showing rich information, and similar styles are relatively rare.

The watch combines the “snail pattern” design on the dial of the OMEGA chronograph in the 1940s, while retaining the characteristics of the 20th century watches, such as the willow-shaped hands, the spiral scale ring under the Arabic numerals, etc., and the chronograph button adopts the retro Pump Pusher style. The bezel and dial are full of information, with three unique time scales printed on them. The bezel is the “Tachymeter” that measures speed based on distance; the outer ring of the dial is the “Telemeter” that measures distance based on the speed of sound; the inner ring of the dial is the “Pulsometer” that measures heart rate based on every 30 beats of the pulse.

The watch is equipped with the 9908 hand-wound movement based on the 9900. The most striking feature is the Chronoscope bridge design, which is the first time that Omega has decorated the Geneva waves with Arabic patterns from the balance wheel as the center instead of the center of the movement; in order to increase the power reserve of the watch, the movement is equipped with two wear-resistant diamond-like-carbon barrels and a column wheel device, which has been certified by the Master Observatory.

The Chronoscope 43mm Master Chronometer with Coaxial Escapement is available in 4 dial colors and 7 models at once, including blue, white, and panda faces in stainless steel, each with a metal chain or leather strap, and bronze, gold, and brown faces with leather straps only.
Omega’s exclusive bronze and gold style with a brown dial is the second watch made of bronze and gold, with only leather strap models. The oxidized bronze dial is decorated with antique colors, opal-colored chronograph dials, bronze and gold PVD hands and hour markers, and the polished brown ceramic bezel is filled with retro-colored enamel tachymeter scales. The overall earth-tone brown tone is more in line with the watch’s tribute to the 1940s. However, since the material has been upgraded, the price is naturally slightly higher.
