Minimalist German Black Watch Junghans Max Bill 2020 Edition Set 027/4018.02

Don’t adjust your screens, the image above isn’t a negative. It’s actually the latest limited edition from minimalist German watch brand Junghans. The Max Bill Edition set takes Junghans to the dark side, utilizing the Bauhaus artist’s monochromatic color scheme.

This limited edition set will only be produced 222 times, and the box contains two timepieces. A 34mm automatic time and date version (the Klein Automatic) and a 40mm chronograph (the Chronoscope), both of which feature a deep matte black case and dial that seems to draw the light into them, making the beautifully crafted white numbers stand out in contrast.

The numbers are in the classic Max Bill font, keeping with the minimalist feel while providing excellent legibility and juxtaposition on the watch that would otherwise disappear when the lights dim.

If all that juxtaposition isn’t enough for you, they both come with a white leather strap that you don’t see very often, and can be swapped out for a more traditional black calfskin with the flick of a quick-release system.

These watches are made for those who know and love Junghans and what they did, and who have a high regard for Max Bill and the rest of the Bauhaus school. Pair with your plainest turtleneck and work boots to complete the architect look and have a coffee after designing the next great London townhouse.
