With the ultimate celebration of love just around the corner, the Jura Valley Manufacture has unveiled a jewellery piece entirely adorned with diamonds, inspired by a timepiece once owned by Marilyn Monroe.
Silhouette, face, voice, style: Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) has always been the absolute embodiment of femininity and continues to weave her magic in the world. Throughout her life, the sublime American actress and singer wore on her wrist a 1930s cocktail watch created by Blancpain, recently presented at the watchmaker’s New York store. This Art Deco timepiece is the first of a limited edition of 14 pieces created specifically for this celebration of love, the Saint Valentine 2020 model in the Women’s collection.
Like its older brother, this new watch features a rectangular case adorned with a flat, fluted crown. Measuring 35×16 mm and just 6.50 mm thick, this slender white gold silhouette is set with 84 diamonds, including two marquise-cut diamonds, caressing the lugs, and is equipped with a manual-winding mechanical movement. The 510 movement provides a 52-hour power reserve and drives the key time data, namely the hours and minutes.
The flawless face of this piece made to celebrate love is inlaid with white mother-of-pearl, from which two half hearts emerge, each with a diamond. Two precious butterflies, whose bodies are made of gold thread and whose wings are set with rubies and diamonds, hover delicately over this rainbow-like scene, while a pair of central sword-shaped hands display the hours and minutes.
The Blancpain Saint Valentine 2020 Women’s Collection watch wraps around the wrist on a white calfskin strap with a pin buckle and is adorned with a brilliant-cut diamond totaling 1.477 carats.
