Breguet Classic Double Tourbillon 5345 Watch Terminal, Tribute to the Master

With the arrival of autumn, the watchmaking brand founded in the Jura Valley pays tribute to its founder, whose tradition has been faithfully continued and whose creations are outstanding in terms of both technique and style.

Settled in France to train as a watchmaker, where he notably developed his rare talent, Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823) created his own workshop in 1775 at 39 Quai de l’Horloge, on the Île de la Cité, in the heart of Paris. This presentation saw the birth of the incredible work performed by the masters, and the innovations that led the industry to great leaps forward, now the inspiration for a sublime creation: the Classique Double Tourbillon 5345 Quai de l’Horloge.

This 46mm-diameter platinum watch is a completely transparent work of art, with two independent tourbillons taking center stage, this remarkable regulating device designed and patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, which powers a platinum baseplate via a central differential. The movement thus makes a complete rotation in 12 hours, each tourbillon having its own barrel, topped by a curved, calligraphically decorated capital B. The Breguet-style blued steel hollow moon-tipped hour hand is attached to the tourbillon clip, while the minute hand rotates “traditionally” to form hour chapters with blue-painted Roman numerals.

The hand-wound 588N movement, with 738 components, is skeletonized and visible through the case and sapphire crystal caseback, beats at 2.5 Hz and has a power reserve of up to 50 hours. It unveils a back with an elaborately carved and engraved illustration: the facade of the building housing Abraham-Louis Breguet’s workshop and its intricate details. A superb, stunning sculpture!
