Hublot Big Bang Camouflage Yamamoto Yoji, the pursuit of standing out

This new limited series is the result of the second collaboration between the Nyon watchmaker and the unconventional Japanese creative, both driven by a desire for avant-gardeism.

Military camouflage patterns are no longer just for slipping by unnoticed nowadays. Yohji Yamamoto embraces them in his fashion collections, boasting the dusky tones he favors. An unconventional figure who likes to break free from style codes, the Japanese creator collaborated with Hublot to imagine a Big Bang camouflage that bears his name. The challenge this time was to ensure that the models equipped with features such as the skeletonized dial were not misrepresented. To achieve a convincing result, a play on grey, black and khaki patches reigns supreme above the mechanism. And, all the important time stats stand out in this biomorphic assemblage: the hour and minute hands, the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the automatic amplifier at 3 o’clock.

The HUB1242 movement is housed in a 54 mm diameter, polished and micro-blasted black ceramic case, water-resistant to 100 meters. This automatic movement (with a 72-hour power reserve) integrates a chronograph with a flyback function for quickly measuring different groups of time.

The 200-piece Big Bang Camouflage Yamamoto Yoji comes with two straps connected by a folding clasp. The first features the same pattern as the dial, assembled using a vulcanization process to ensure long-lasting color. The second is made from a textile that is as intensely black as the garments created by the fashion designer.
