Participating in person for the first time at the Geneva Watches & Wonders Show, the brand goes beyond contemporary watchmaking with this bold new product of exceptional design.
In 2010, the T-1000 watch broke with tradition with its case housing a tilted double balance movement with a record-breaking power reserve of 1,000 hours. This year, Rebellion proves that its innovative capabilities are very much alive with the T-500 watch. The formula remains the same: the case is elegantly designed with 43x47x11mm and is equipped with a manual winding mechanism with an exceptional autonomy of 450 hours!
Under the domed sapphire crystal, a stunning display is revealed. The mechanism finalized by Concepto comes to life thanks to a total of 380 parts. As with the T-1000, the hours and minutes are once again displayed on two parallel rollers. In addition to its extraordinary power reserve, the movement boasts even greater precision than its illustrious predecessor, thanks to the frequency of its balance wheel, which rises to 28,800 oscillations per hour. The case of the Eloxed movement is available in five colours: blue, red, green, orange and black. Its presence enhances the futuristic feel of the titanium or black diamond light coating (DLC) titanium case. As for the six cylinders, they charge their energy via levers. Each model is adorned with tire etchings, evoking the close link between the brand and racing. For the record, Rebellion is the only watchmaker to have had an endurance racing team for more than ten years. This year, the company is a partner of the Alfa Romeo F1 Orlen Team.
Named after the year in which the first Speedmaster was born and created almost ten years ago, the Biel-based watchmaker welcomes four new models to its monobloc chronograph collection, all available with steel or leather links.
1957 is a key date in Omega’s history, as it corresponds to the birth of a future legend and symbol of watchmaking for the conquest of space: the Speedmaster, a watch designed for racers and all lovers of speed thanks to the tachymeter scale running on the bezel and the short time measurement revealed on the dial. This year, as the original timepiece celebrates its 65th anniversary, the Biel-based watch company is unveiling four new models, part of the Speedmaster 17 collection created in 2013, available on a metal link bracelet or a leather strap with a Sfumato effect.
The steel case, with its slim profile and 40.5 mm diameter, houses the 9906 calibre, a METAS-certified manual-winding mechanical movement visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Clocking at a standard 4hz frequency, this powerful motor integrates two barrels and offers a 60-hour power reserve. What sets this Speedmaster 1957 quartet apart is the colours chosen for the dials: black with a sandwich construction, enhanced by the relief of vanilla Super-LumiNova®, blue or green PVD with a sunburst effect, and slightly matte burgundy. The iconic rhodium-plated “Broad Arrow” hand (centre), the small seconds counter (9 o’clock), the totaliser grouping the chronograph minutes and hours (3 o’clock) and the date (6 o’clock) complement this colour scheme.
