This cloisonné enamel dome clock, numbered 20105M, “Jazz Rhythm”, embodies the rhythm, spontaneity and emotional qualities of jazz on this unique clock decoration. The enamel craftsman used a 24K gold wire that was 18.3 meters long and weighed 20.3 grams, cut it into segments with a cross section of 0.15×0.6 mm, and placed them one by one on the bottom plate to create a curved shape, creating the stylish figure of a jazz musician playing, as well as elements such as the English “Jazz” font.
Then 48 transparent enamel glaze colors were used to create a romantic gradient color and layered effect for the picture. Due to the rich colors used, each enamel panel needs to be fired up to 9 times at about 840 degrees Celsius to completely sinter and fix the color. On the dial, the hour display ring is specially designed to look like piano keys, and the black lacquered hour markers represent the black keys on the piano, embracing the center of the cloisonné enamel surface.
Another unique gold pocket watch, numbered 995/122J “Panda”, pays tribute to the giant pandas that live in the mountains of China. It is decorated with fine inlays cut into small pieces of wood to show the image of this rare animal that lives on bamboo branches. The rich details show the craftsman’s carefulness. The watch must be cut from 26 kinds of wood to obtain the required materials, carefully select the color and texture that match the panda and bamboo, and then finely cut into 194 tiny plaque components and 190 inlays, inlaid to form the lively demeanor of the giant panda. The surface combines hand-carved gold and transparent enamel craftsmanship. Through the green transparent enamel, the decorative details underneath are clearly displayed. The gold Breguet-style three-dimensional numbers and gold leaf-shaped hands indicate the time.
The caseband, case back edge, buckle and hanger are all inspired by bamboo shapes, with delicate bamboo patterns hand-carved, the crown is decorated with a cabochon green tourmaline (0.34 carats), and the foot is inlaid with a cabochon green tourmaline (0.33 carats). The hanger is on a green marble base.
